You may receive multiple emails referencing your use of Basic Authentication on multiple operating systems (iOS, Mac, Windows, etc.). OIT is communicating directly with users who are using Basic Authentication. Modern authentication reduces the risk of attackers accessing Duke email accounts.
Duke users will only be able to access their Office 365 account via our secure authentication service (Shibboleth).
Microsoft is soon ending support for Basic Authentication (which relies on sending usernames and passwords with every request, increasing the risk of attackers abusing users' credentials) and requiring Modern Authentication service.
